Wee Wonders Limited recognises that as the HSBC Wee Wonders website is aimed at children more rigorous safeguards need to be put in place in order to ensure that the processing of personal information is fair. Accordingly, Wee Wonders Limited endeavours to ensure that parental consent is obtained both before collecting personal data submitted by children under 14 and to the publishing of any of that data on the website. In accordance with the guidance received from the office of the Information Commissioner the provision of credit card details or mailing of a cheque from a parent or guardian in order to make payment for an entry in to the HSBC Wee Wonders Championships 2008 shall be deemed indicative of explicit and verifiable parental consent having been given to the submission of the personal data of the child concerned and the use of that data in accordance with the terms of this policy (including by way of publishing the name and age of the child on the website in connection with the staging and results of the HSBC Wee Wonders Championships 2008).
Non-personally identifiable information
Wee Wonders Limited also collects (and also uses the services of third parties to collect) non-personally identifiable information in aggregate form to track data such as the total number of visits to our websites, the number of visitors to each page of our websites, and the domain names of our visitors’ Internet service providers. We use this information, which remains in aggregate form, to understand how our visitors use our web sites so that we may improve it.
No personally identifiable information is disclosed in this process.
Use of IP addresses
An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a set of numbers that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you log on to your Internet service provider or through your organisation’s local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN). Web servers automatically identify your computer by the IP address assigned to it during your session online.
Wee Wonders Limited may collect IP addresses for the purposes of systems administration and to audit the use of our site. We do not ordinarily link a user’s IP address to personally identifiable information of that user, which means each user’s session will be logged, but the user remains anonymous to us. However, we may use IP addresses to identify users of our site when we feel it is necessary to enforce compliance with the site’s terms of use, or to protect or service, site or other users.
